Experience #6

Retail Equities/Derivatives/ETF/Currency Trader - Investor - Researcher/Analyst

Self Employed
Huntington, NY
(June 2007 - Dec 2009): Managed my Father's 100k+ retirement account, pulling it out of equities before the crash of 2008 and buying into foreign grow stocks as the panic subsided. His retirement funds from what would have been a 60% loss and turned it into an actual gain.

Retail Equities/Derivatives/ETF/Currency Trader, Huntington, NY (July 2008 – May 2009): Profit/Loss of Trade: $960 Deposited: $650 ROI: 147.7% Annualized RoR: 161.4%
Short-term technical analysis based trading using strict money management aided by my proprietary indicators.
Proficient in technical analysis; The indicators I designed generate signals 1-2 bars after a turn, instead of 5-6 .
Consistent live trading of a set strategy over varying market conditions. he discipline to obey my own rules was key
(October 2006 – May 2010): Profit/Loss of Trade: $15,000 Deposited: $3000 ROI: 500% Annualized RoR: 136.4%
Long-Term Fundamental Analysis based trading while adhering to strict using money management rules
Classic TA, and my proprietary indicators were used to time entries (1-2 vs. 5-6 days to make a trade is a big deal).
FA was top-down; 1st with macroeconomic trends, 2nd with sectors, and 3rd micro analysis to pick the 'best of breed'.
(June 2005-January 2007): Profit/Loss of Trade: ($2500) Deposited: $2500 ROI: -100% Annualized RoR: -63%
My first live account, how I learned to trade. I made ever error traders both new and old can make.
Emotions (and subsequently controlling them), fear and greed , strategy shift, impatience, learning not to gamble.
The spread blowing out during news and taking out stops, server disconnects, platform and computer errors, etc.
Most importantly; I made sure that for every mistake, I would journal it, and never make that error ever again.
Losing taught me far more than winning ever did.
Consistently profitable, over multiple strategies, time-frames, securities, and platforms; Confident, but not cocky.
